Inclusion means that everybody, regardless of their strengths or weaknesses in any area, become part of the community. They are included in the feeling of belonging among other students, teachers, and people.

The federal Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and its 1997 amendments make it clear that schools have a duty to educate children with disabilities in general education classrooms.

Why Inclusion is Good for Everyone:

  • Helps people have more understanding and tolerance of people with special needs.
  • Allows everyone to learn more about why it's important to have tolerance towards people who are different from themselves.
  • Helps people with special needs advance towards a more independent life.
